How to Prevent Toilet Water from Drying Up When You Travel
On two occasions, I have travelled and came back to see that the water in my water-closet bowl has dried up.
Which exposes my house to crawling insects from the soak away pit.
I started thinking of what to do to keep the water from drying up.

I thought of using a cloth to tie the top of the wc or even pouring some cooking oil into the water to keep it from evaporating.
I was skeptical about the oil one because I was worried it might clog the waste pipe over time, so I asked ChatGPT.
Turns out the cooking oil and the cloth wrap is a thing.
It also suggested using a water-seal solution, like RV antifreeze and having someone assigned to pour water from time to time.
I tried the oil and came back to see the cooking oil turned red from the light-yellowish colour.
Yeesh!!!
It solved one problem but I don’t know if it created more.
I just used some hot water, salt and baking soda to flush down.
Tried any of these?
