The Cultural difference in Greetings, From Village to City

Few days ago, I was in Enugu, and I noticed a change in me.

This village has me greeting everyone I pass by on the road, including people inside shop.

I still try to keep my face straight, no turning to the left or right, but elders don’t wait for you to greet, they just greet you and keep walking.

Only for me to enter UNEC and I forgot I wasn’t in the village and was dashing greeting out like bonanza.

Nobody was responding.

Eh!!!

I kept my greeting to myself, went about my business and left.

Made me remember when people say they don’t greet people in oyibo land.

I was asking myself, was I greeting like this before or these village people follow me go city?
