POP is becoming a death trap especially those ones attached to floor deck.

During the casting of such floors, no hooks or connections were attached to the concrete.

It’s just like trying to attach a ceiling fan hook on the floor deck after the concrete is dry.

Once you forget to add that hook when they are matting the iron rods for that floor, forget ceiling fan for that space. Go with standing fan.

The only place you have opportunity to do this whenever you want is at the roof ceiling.

A carpenter can remove a ceiling board and add the hook from the woods inside the roof.

This same principle applies to POP.

I have not seen where POP ceiling fell and it’s at bungalow or the floor with roof above.

It’s always from a concrete floor decking.

If you must put POP and you didn’t cater for the hangers in the concrete what you can do next is this.

Create a false ceiling frame.

Have a carpenter use a 2 by 3 or 2 by 2 wood to create a ceiling noggin 600mm by 600mm or 1200mm by 1200mmfor that space with a height dropping down from the concrete between 150mm-300mm, as though they are adding ceiling boards. Then the POP ceiling will hang comfortably on the wood, not the floor deck.

If you already have a fan hook in the concrete, you will have to get a welder to make it longer.

All this is safe for you if you have a headroom of not less than 3 metres.

Unu ga egbu mmadu.

I don dey fear entering houses with POP on any floor.
