I don’t know if you have never seen this or you like to stress yourself, but let me show you how to use the transfer method for online payment options instead of requesting account details. I also know that you do not want to be at risk of getting your ATM card details stolen. So, let’s go.

Most content creators or anyone who sells products and services online uses a payment gateway. Online Transfer options are made for Nigerians.

As a Nigerian, who is not open to seamless transactions and prefers asking the course seller to send you the account details (even when they posted it in the post they made), then you make payments by transfer, then send back the transfer receipt via WhatsApp or email, then the seller confirms payment, and then they add you to the course. Whoosh!!!

All that time wasted for something, in this case, transfers, you could have done seamlessly on the seller’s course platform and you get access immediately.

If you are open to trying out the transfer method on the seller’s online platform, here is how to do it.

  1. Login into the seller’s platform or create an account there (if that is a requirement).
  2. Add the contents or products or services you wish to buy to your cart/basket.
  3. Proceed to the payment option and checkout.

At the checkout page, the payment gateway pops up.

To avoid technical or network issues, I will suggest that you use two phones. For me, I use my laptop to open the seller’s platform and use the bank app on my phone to make payments.

For you, you can use maybe a friend’s phone to open the seller’s platform you wish to purchase a course on, and at the checkout page, when the payment gateway opens up, click on the Transfer option as shown below.

Now use your phone to log into your bank app and make the transfer. Please, ENSURE, that you type the exact amount shown on the popup page.

  • For example, if the course creator sets their course to N5,000 and at the checkout page, the popup shows N5,090.50 please, in your bank app, type exactly N5,090.50.
  • If you try to transfer with N5,000, the payment will leave your account but, after a few minutes, it will bounce back. This indicates that you have not paid for the course, and the seller’s platform will not receive the payment.
  • Another reason why I suggest using two devices is because of network issues affecting you between the time it will take you to switch from your bank app back to your browser, bearing in mind that the account you are making the transfer to is usually generated as a one-time transfer account. It has a time limit; usually lasts for 30 minutes. You can see a timer in the image below.

After you have completed the transfer, click on the I have sent the money or whatever text appears at the bottom of the gateway popup page.

The platform will process the payment immediately and onboard you. No stress of waiting to be attended to by the seller’s admin on WhatsApp or email.
