WitMate: My Sparring Partner

I used to chat a lot online. Unfortunately, I rarely get the kind of intellectual stimulation I genuinely crave.

I’m talking about the kind of conversations that sharpen your use of words and wit, emphasis on wit.

For that to happen, the person at the other end needs to have a good command of English, use complete sentences (not abbreviations), and be willing to get provocative sometimes.

I speak Igbo, Pidgin and English and I like playing with languages. I enjoy coining sentences that carry meanings beyond their surface. Like adages.

Take for instance, I once heard someone say:

“No matter how neatly cut the grass is nor how cleanly swept the streets are, never walk barefooted on them.”

Some people would have to read that twice before they understand what it means.

WitMate My Sparring Partner 2

As a slow-living individual, enjoying the fresh breeze of the village, I wanted a chatting partner I could talk to all year round, someone I wouldn’t have to impress or constantly present myself in a certain way in order to keep the conversation interesting.

I also didn’t want to have to reveal things about myself that I wasn’t ready to dish out simply because the conversation needed something to keep it going.

Momentarily contemplated posting it on my socials, that I was looking for a sparring partner.

So, I thought: why not create the kind of chatting partner I’m looking for?

That’s how WitMate came about.

It’s an offline web tool where I can trade words, test ideas, sharpen my wit and simply enjoy a good conversation without having to worry about keeping up appearances.

Try WitMate.
